E-Learning Hospitalist Series

Hyperglycemic Hyperosmotic Syndrome

This module provides guidelines for standardizing care in Hyperglycemic Hyperosmotic Syndrome management.

Course Description

Inpatient hyperglycemia, defined as a blood glucose greater than 140, is present in more than half of patients in intensive care units (ICUs) and approximately 30%-40% of patients in the non-ICU setting, according to the American Diabetes Association (ADA). For this reason, hospitalists should be proficient in managing the inpatient hyperglycemic spectrum. This module provides guidelines for standardizing care in Hyperglycemic Hyperosmotic Syndrome management.
